MISSIONS AND VISIONS

Oribi’s mission is to promote positive social and environmental impact through impact entrepreneurship. The World Bank report “Inequality in Southern Africa: An Assessment of the Southern African Customs Union (Sacu)” notes that South Africa is characterized by “high wealth inequality and economic polarization (particularly in labor markets)”. Its main objective is to support impact entrepreneurs to foster inclusive economic development.

To this end, the incubator promotes the creation of sustainable, alternative ecosystems. It particularly targets marginalized and under-served urban and rural areas, as well as young people and women. In line with the Sustainable Development Goals, it seeks to address South Africa’s rising unemployment and poverty rates, while applying a gender-sensitive approach to all our entrepreneurship support programs.

Oribi provides social innovators with entrepreneurial and foundational skills, funding and networking opportunities.
